Project Info
"Hatch Wave" was presented as part of the TRANSIENS Nostrum_Embankments exhibition, presented in the Municipal Gallery of the Cyclades, in 2023. The exhibition ENBANKMENT comprises the second edition of the TRANSIENS NOSTRUM project. The work, in the form of a visual and sound installation, delves into the recent history of Syros, addresses the sea as a locus of constant withdrawal and emergence, and suggests a poetic encounter with the multiple and often elusive nuances of the transformative effect of time.
TRANSIENS NOSTRUM project develops as a circumnavigation alongside the Mediterranean. It is performed and presented as a joint work by Christina Nakou and Anna Pangalou (sound artist / sound art performer).
The project suggests the experience of loss as an ongoing process of life and proposes a poetic encounter with the multiple and often subtle nuances of this transformative procedure, through a sequel of visual and sound installations.
TRANSIENS NOSTRUM addresses people to face the sea, follow her move and merge with her vital endurance.
The project derives from the installation IN PRESENTIA, exhibited in the Bastion of St George, in the Medieval Town of Rhodes, in July-September 2022. The exhibition was funded by the Ministry of Culture and presented in collaboration with the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Dodecanese. In March 2023, the installation EMBANKMENTS was presented in the Municipal Gallery of the Cyclades in collaboration with the Municipality of Syros - Ermoupolis. In 2023-2024 the installation SUBMERSION will be presented in Venice, funded by the Minisitry of Culture of Greece.
TRANSIENS NOSTRUM unfolds as a sequel of presentations of the site-specific installation, reshaped every time according to the history and the architectural elements of the selected exhibition space. Water fluidity as a natural element that encapsulates withdrawal and emergence in a constant alternation, is the main axis of the artwork. The project will unfold around the Mediterranean seeking to create a network of cultural events, art programs and performances that are focusing on the experience of loss and its transformative energy.
